Markus Pertl heads Stern Stewart & Co. GmbH as managing partner. He founded the Munich branch and built up the continental European business of Stern Stewart & Co. Beforehand, he worked for Stern Stewart & Co. in New York.
As Managing Partner, Mr. Pertl has spearheaded solid growth in Europe. He has been a driving force in establishing Stern Stewart & Co. as a top consulting firm for value management on the continent.
Clients include large multinational corporations as well as private companies. The field of expertise lies in Strategy/Valuation and Organization/Governance, and Mr. Pertl going beyond the role as Managing Partner of his firm, personally advises board members and owners of leading companies on strategic and organizational issues.
Markus Pertl is the founder and Executive Chairman of The Stern Stewart Institute, an independent organization committed to promote empowerment and entrepreneurship. It organizes numerous one-on-one discussions throughout the year leading to an annual summit of 200 international leaders and thinkers of business, politics and the academia. It also runs a non-profit organization in Burkina Faso (West Africa) for educational and entrepreneurial projects and microfinance activities.
He is a member of the advisory committee of the Global Leadership Foundation, headed by F. W. de Klerk, nobel peace prize laureate. The GLF promotes good governance, contributes to the prevention and resolution of conflict through mediation and offers discreet advice to Heads of Government.
Markus Pertl is a trustee of the Heerema Group, a leading international player in the offshore oil and gas construction industry.
He holds an MBA of the CEMS and has visited the Vienna School of Economics, the London School of Economics, the Stockholm School of Economics, and Columbia University.
