Markus Pertl heads Stern Stewart & Co. GmbH as Managing Partner.
Beforehand, Mr. Pertl worked for Stern Stewart & Co. in New York. He developed and spearheaded the growth of the continental European business of Stern Stewart and established Stern Stewart & Co. GmbH as a leading independent strategy consulting boutique. His clients include large multinational corporations and institutional investors/sovereign wealth funds as well as private companies.
Markus Pertl is the founder and Executive Chairman of The Stern Stewart Institute, an independent non-profit organization committed to promoting empowerment and entrepreneurship. The Institute runs several foundational activities in Africa for educational and entrepreneurial projects. It also builds the platform for an international think tank that enjoys a very frequent exchange of knowledge and experience and comprises an annual summit of 200 international leaders and thinkers of business, politics and the academia. He also publishes the Stern Stewart Institute Periodical.
Mr. Pertl is a member of the advisory committee of the Global Leadership Foundation (GLF), headed by Nobel peace prize laureate F. W. de Klerk. The GLF promotes good governance, contributes to the prevention and resolution of conflict through mediation and offers discreet advice to Heads of Government.
Mr. Pertl is a trustee of the Heerema Group, a leading international player in the offshore oil and gas construction industry.
He holds a MBA from the CEMS (Community of European Management Schools) and attended the Vienna School of Economics.
